Anyone find a home cure??

I was diagnose with ulcerative colitis when I was 12. Was on all the meds. Like predizone, azofadetine, ascaol. SORRY FOR THE SPELLING. My storys is the same. Driveing down the road couldn't make it between exits and had to stop on side of road. The guys in the car didn't know what to say. Going to clubs and needing to use the bathroom, and there where know doors on the stalls. Couldn't even chew gum without needing to go. Life outside my house WAS not fun at all.

Unfortunately you can't depend on a home cure for this awful disease.  Do keep up your gastroentologist appointments as there are lots of new things that can help.  I had UC for ten years when I was younger and was ultimately cured with the J-Pouch surgery.  My son is now suffering and his doctor has put him on Imuran, an immune suppressant which can apparently put you into remission for something like 6 years.  He is feeling better.

Some things you can try and which I have read about in science texts are:

- probiotics (take the supplement, not just the yogurt)
- gluten free diet has been proven to help UC
- marijuana - my son stayed very healthy when he smoked this regularly.  See if your state (we live in Canada so much easiaer) has medical marijuana laws.  It really works.

Do avoid dairy, spicy foods, sugar and alcohol when you are flared.  Good luck!
