Colitis + prostaglandins + heavy periods

Hello - my question is really does anyone know of or understand the link between having UC and suffering from heavy and painful periods?  I have read about UC producing excess prostaglandin which in turn creates more contractions and sore periods.  Is this true?  Can someone please help me understand?  Thank you

I've heard that prostaglandins are produced by practically every kind of soft tissue in your body, and yes, the inflammation that goes along with ulcerative colitis causes increased prostaglandin production.
If it helps at all, my best friend has UC (& always had TERRIBLE cramps/periods), but was able to get pregnant "the natural way" and found that after her pregnancies, her period was a little less painful (once it returned). Something about the change in hormones that went along with being pregnant, and then nursing, seemed to drop the prostaglandin production. She's still nursing her second child, so we'll see if that lasts.

I was facing similar problem for about 6 months, i have resolved it majorly with diet. I take 1. 1 ratio of yogurt-honey mix, first thing in the morning. My breakfast is also soft foods like boiled rice with a probiotic, or banana honey, or toast honey. Honey is a natural moisturizer and a healer. You can just drink half a cup of pure honey empty stomach, and check the difference. Sometime around the day, in between meals, i take a teaspoon of cinnamon powder with water. After dinner, a supplement with zinc. Please avoid raw or semi cooked foods, berries, dairy, spices, fats etc.  i mean anything that irritates the GI mucal lining.
