I'm sorry to hear of your brother's diagnosis. He is VERY fortunate to have such a loving sister ;-)
one thing to understand is that many ppl with Crohn's often don't like to discuss their disease with others who are not afflicted with it as well. Crohn's can be an embarrassing reality to face for many of us who have been given the diagnosis - so your brother's behavior... it's not unusual at all.
And being in pain, coupled with being scared of what the future holds and feeling generally "flu like" sick with extreme abd. pain can absolutely drive a person of any age into a depression.
Finding other Crohn's ppl to talk to (forums or local groups) and having a good GI doctor are SO important.
buy the book "breaking the vicious cycle" and if your brother won't then someone in your family join the free website membership,
www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info ... these ppl are wonderful and they've been there.
educate yourselves on as much info as you can... ask as many questions as you need to until you really understand what Crohn's Disease is about.
Hi, sorry to hear that.
I found that seeing a therapiest is the best help.
Try to get him to see one.
I hope he will feel better
