colitis

In 2003, I was in the hospital for a stomach infection.  A month later I joined the military and a two weeks into my training I felt ill.  I was discharged with colitis.  Now this Feb. of 2009 I tried to reenlists, but I need a medical waiver. I have done the research for symptoms in colitis and I don't fall into this category.  For example loss of weight, fatigue, bleeding in the stool, reflux, etc.  What tests can I do that won't be expensive for me and tell if I really do or don't have colitis.

I just think I had a stomach infection, that's it.  they did a colonoscopy in 2003 and found nothing.  They check my rectum on 2006 and found no colitis.  I have had done an xray and they did not find anything except constipation which they told me I needed to eat more fiber.  The only pain I get in my stomach is diary, but people tell my im just lactose free.  What symptoms did you have.  Im going to a specialist on Monday morning, but I'm going to tell the doctor to do the most simple procedure.  don't want to waste hundreds of dollars on something I don't have.
