Studies on people who were taking infliximab for Crohn’s and also smoking or taking marijuana (weed) have shown that smoking weed in such patients increased the risk of kidney infection, fracture and falls, bipolar disorder and overdose of drug compared to those who did not smoke weed. Also weed increases the risk of gastritis and stomach pain and hence make it difficult for your doctor to monitor you.
So, yes, it would be advisable to stop it. But your doctor should know about it so that he can monitor the withdrawal. You could ask for a session alone with your doctor and all information will be kept confidential. Take care!

i'm 15 and i have crohn's disease. i'm portuguese so i apologize for my english. i'm going to start a treatment called infliximab and i wanted to know if it's ok for me to continue smoking weed. i started smoking weed 10 month ago and nothing changed but i'm scared of starting this new treatment. i don't smoke a lot but i don't know the side effects of the 2 combined. i can't ask my doctor because my mom is always is me. please i really need to know if i can continue or if i should stop.

Weight gain is not a known side effect of pentassa. The drug can cause weight gain if you noticed an increase in appetite, which has been reported by some patients. Also, the drug can affect your kidney function and cause water retention. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care!
