Trick or treat? Canada seizes three cocaine-filled pumpkins at airport

(CNN) -- Talk about a spooky Halloween find.

Canadian officials seized three pumpkins from a passenger's bag at the airport.

And boy were they stuffed, they say, with 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds) of cocaine.

Border agency officers at the Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport found the pumpkins while searching the luggage of a female traveler, according to a news release.

Her identity has not been released.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is conducting an investigation. It did not respond to CNN's request for additional information Thursday.

Officers at the airport in Montreal have made 173 drug seizures so far this year, including 10 for cocaine for a total of 44 kilograms, according to border services.

Ah yes, the word animated is indeed an accurate description...lol. I tell you though, Canadian politics can be difficult at times.  You have the "ruling" party, the official opposition and often 1 or 2 others with enough seats to really have a voice.  It can be hard to get anything done.  Pro's and con's I suppose.  Having additional parties does help to keep them honest (well as honest as a politician can be) as we the people can always threaten to switch sides, then switch again...and again...and again...haha

Like the UK, your politics and politicians are much more animated in their dealings with each other than here. I'm all for a punch or 2 to be thrown in the senate and house, shake these morons up a bit. I swear some of them are so old I'm not sure they no where they even are at times, let alone govern.

Ahh...ok.  Gotcha.

Seriously though, it is nice to see some postings on Canadian politics on here.  And yes, it is very true, we also have our share of crazies in gov't.  I mean, we have a Pirate Party for gosh sakes - that should speak for itself..ha

Funny note on this story...a few years ago there was a rather large drug bust at another of our airports.  They guy had it just in his suitecase, didn't even bother to hide it really.  Anyway, he made a comment to the effect of "who knew Canadians had drug finding technology too"...lol.  MOst of these drug mules and criminal types aren't overly bright..ha.

Proactive - yes Ford, what a piece of work isn't he.  What a lovely example of a fine upstanding citizen (voice dripping with sarcasm). I'm glad he's not my mayor.  And the idiot won't step down.  Don't even get me started on the senators.  I'd post this stuff, but no one is ever much interested on what is happening here, nice to see some interest. Eh. (btw, most of us don't really say that, it's more an east coast thing)

I think the cop that just shot that kid in California is the bad guy in this one as well.  I mean, if he'd shoot a kid carrying what looks like an ak 47, hed have no problem sending coke in a pumpkin....  Well, at least the pumpkin wasn't armed... just holding.
