I was going through posts this evening, wondering if any members of this forum are still active on the site.  I came across this thread and I wondered where everyone has gone.

Curious about your thoughts.

I got tired of things during the election and not just here---  everywhere.  Oh my, CNN should be shut down as they act like the election is still going on.  LOL  I find them outright unethical at this point and just a propaganda giant worse than any other network.  The only time I turn on CNN now is when there's a hurricane brewing. I was so disgusted by all media though and the over coverage and hype and craziness that I just said NO to politics and current events for a while.  And then I got out of the habit of checking things out HERE.

Not sure what made me check here today.  Maybe the chilly weather and my cold keeping me stretched out on the couch.  LOL

I felt like all media could have been shut down for a while, because they were all so biased, one way or the other.

I did feel that CNN was aptly dubbed "Clinton News Network", but Fox was so biased the other way, they balanced,  Sometimes, everyone sounds like they're still campaigning and I keep wondering when it will be over and they will get on with running the country, then I realize they aren't going to.

That said, I force myself to read/listen to both sides because I feel we need to know what they're all saying.

I think the election left a lot of people in shock... I find myself appalled on a daily basis, at some of the things taking place in the country and the world, but when I think about it, I realize it's unlikely that it  would be any different had the election gone the other way...
Interesting comments Barb and specialmom.  The news coverage was and still is over the top and the bias is very thick at every outlet.  About Trump, I never thought he could get elected.  He's not very charismatic.  Every time he says something, something horribly ineffective falls out of his mouth and the term "trust me" is used by con men all over the world.

My dislike and distrust of elected officials is at an all time high.  All they do is complain and take time off.  I've written letters to my state representatives and got only canned replies in return.  I can't help but think, why are 'we" putting up with this?

It's highly unlikely that if the other side were in office that things would be any better off.  That side of the propaganda mill would be churning out fertilizer and doing all they can to make their person appear semi-human.  The right is doing the same thing, but I think more people are catching on.

Don't worry though.  Come the next Presidential election, a lot of people will file lock step into the voting booths and vote for someone they would never allow on their front porch.

I got kind of disgusted after the election.
I'm not an ostrich but the news is so overwhelming and I only want to spend to much time focusing on it.

Interesting comment....
Actually, I've given this a git of thought.  I kind of understand being disgusted.  I think no matter the candidate, many people probably would have felt the same way.  I rest assured that many felt that way when Obama got elected.

I recently had a discussion with a friend who was talking about being disgusted with Trump.  "He is the least Presidential man to have ever been elected to the office."  I said, "The man has no panache, no style and the inability to tell the truth.  But, you know that going in."

Where I got "in trouble" with that comment was, "I didn't see the man getting elected.  I was shocked.  But at least I know what I am getting."  I made that statement because I have been fooled too many times in the past.  You think you are getting one thing and end up with something else that doesnt really resemble the person you thought you were voting for.

Then i realized something.  My friend was more than willing to excuse the behavior or the lack of effort/accomplishments of the people he voted for and couldn't wait to nag on the other team when their guy got elected.  I pointed this out to my friend and he agreed.

I lost focus and can't remember where I was going with that....  just seems less than genuine.  If your guy is messing up, say so... say it loud and often.  Most won't.

Good question, Brice.  You might have added one more option... I know some people who left because they were afraid to respond for fear of being put down or ridiculed for their ideas or opinions.
