Choices for a generic over the counter antacid just got smaller as the drug maker of generic ranitidine under the brand name of Zantac has pulled distribution of the medication world wide. Last week the FDA stated they found cancer causing chemicals in some samples taken from batches of generic rantitidine or Zantac. https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/statement-alerting-patients-and-health-care-professionals-ndma-found-samples-ranitidine The amount was very small and barely more than the amount of the chemical you might expect to find in common foods but the general public needs to feel safe in the medications they take. However the FDA didn't recommend people not take the medication they currently have. The manufacturer has decided though to stop distribution of of generic Zantac world wide to further investigate. https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2019/09/19/generic-zantac-ranitidine-sandoz-distribution-stop-novartis/2372161001/
Anyone take this regularly and worried about getting it down the road?
