Blood clot

I've been having what can only be describe as vein pain for a few weeks. I'm in the process of being tested for autoimmune disorders. The nurse practitioner wants to go this route first before she refers me to a vascular specialists in case we can get answers this way. Anyway, because I'm having issues with my veins I am really freaked out about developing blood clots. I have been having some pain in the calf area of my left leg. The pain is more on the left side rather than the center of my calf. This started yesterday morning and came on suddenly. It was very bothersome and hurt to walk. I took 2 extra strength Excedrin and the pain went away. I had the pain again last night and was prepared to go to the ER but it stopped on its own. Again had the pain today and it went away after taking Excedrin. So my question is if this was a blood clot would the pain go away with meds? I also did the flex test and I could feel the pain when I flexed but it wasn't excruciating. The pain was actually worse if I just let me dangle.
