Bulging veins in lower abdomen?

Age: 22
Sex: male
Height: 5’6”
Race: white
Location: California
Duration of complaint: 2 months

For about 2 months now I often see a vein that goes from almost right under my belly button ( not dead center under it but to the right, and often times the parallel vein on the other side as well) down to my pelvis protruding, like your veins would look if you just worked out. Sometimes it’s much more noticeable than others, and it seems to be at its worst after standing up for a while, and even feels kind of sore / uncomfortable if I have clothes on that are even a little tight. I was thinking these might be the veins connected/connecting to my lymph nodes. On the right side I see another vein on my abdomen up higher doing the same thing, but other than that there are no other bulging veins on the rest of my stomach, and they definitely don’t look as superficial as you might see in a picture online with someone who has lymphoma or something. This whole phenomenon has been happening in my legs as well too, and sometimes I think it even feels itchy. I don’t know what could have happened to cause this. I have some degree of anterior pelvic tilt, so that’s the only thing I could think of that would cause this, but I can’t find any information online that considers this a symptom of pelvic tilt.

It is difficult to know exactly what is going on over the internet and my first suggestion is for you to see a health care professional to evaluate this.  I would schedule that very soon if you have not been seen already and please let us know the what you are told!

So, with what you describe, things to consider are that perhaps you have venous hypertension and a minor blockage.  I would suggest a full venous evaluation and cat scan to determine if this is the case.  This may not be the case but you would want to have it ruled out.  Here is some information https://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1085412-overview

Please let us know how you are doing.
