Crest Whitening Strips - tooth decay and sensitivity

I used the strips for a month and a half about 4-5 weekly(stopped mid April). Right before I stopped I noticed a minor chip in my tooth and also some decay on my big front teeth. Went to my dentist recently and explained I'm still having some sensitivity problems. He said the strips had nothing do with the events that happened. Which I think is complete bull. I changed nothing health wise in my life and all of a sudden when I use these strips my teeth are decaying. Obviously I'm never using these again and I must use the sesodyne toothpaste for a couple months. So do you think it's just a coincidence or are the strips the reason?

I had the same thing happen! My bottom gum receded in the front! Once I went to the dentist, she gave me antibiotics for periodontal disease and I stopped using the strips. My teeth are still sensitive though! How do I file a lawsuit!

They did the same thing to mine. I used to have very pretty teeth period then I started noticing my teeth were getting kind of translucent. People usually say how pretty my teeth were. I used the Crest whitening toothpaste I used the mouthwash and I also used to Whitestrips and I spent a lot of money on them just to get my teeth breaking and brittle and now having to spend a fortune at the dentist to get my teeth fixed. I have never had any problems with my teeth whatsoever until I've used the Crest whitening all products yes there has to be and need to be a lawsuit big time. I know people that have tried them in it burn their gums they couldn't stand it. They did not do that to my gum but they did become very sensitive but I took very good care of my teeth I have photos to prove it period then like I said all the sudden they started breaking and getting brittle front tooth first which was horrible and horrid to me period I have to see a doctor or dentist to get the rest fixed. Can someone tell me if there is a lawsuit?

Wow, I feel really bad for all of you. I was considering using whitening strips. Thank you for the cautionary tales. I'll bite the bullet and get a cleaning at a dentist.

I too have used the crest whitening strips. Not too long after using them I begin to notice my two front teeth chipping, and now my two front teeth have basicly chipped all the way off. Before using this product I had no problems with my teeth, they were in perfect condition. The only dental work I had ever had was a small filling about 15 years ago. We need to get in touch with a lawyer and file a lawsuit against this company who is ruining people's lives, their self-esteem, causing them pain and suffering, and costing them their livelihood!

Same with me. I had perfect teeth and one of my front teeth got a large chip right after I finished using them.  It looked terrible. My dentist had to use bonding to repair it as best as possible.

I used it back in 2005 for about 3 weeks and it was really working for me. I had sensitivity in my two front teeth after about a week of using it and by week three one of my two front teeth started to decay. I stopped using them immediately and it stopped decaying. Now I have a small piece of my front tooth gone.

Was 18 at the time and saw no warning labels for this. Thank you crest white strips.

Hi, I used this and it caused demineralisation of my teeth. Are there some people who are also thinking about the class action lawsuit? If so, do not hesitate to contact me - ***@****.

There should be a class action lawsuit against Crest for harming people.  Did you ever file a complaint with the government?  I think it's consumer protection.  Maybe the FDA would cover it.  Anyway, by demineralizing and dehydrdating the tooth, it invites decay and prevents the tooth from repairing itself if continued use of this product.  I would say brush very gently with a soft tooth brush, rinse after eating something sweet, remember to floss, and get a good oral irrigator like Hydro Floss to remove plaque and food debris and don't use it above a "5" setting.  Check out www.mamagums.com for good advice.

I used this product aswell, and my front teeth fell out after two to three months of using this product.  This was back in 2004 or 5.  The dentist were surprised that this happened. I never thought that using this product would would cause this much harm.  I had to get bridges at the age of 18!!! Ever since then, I have had many problems with my teeth.  I paid over 3000 dlrs for my bridges and I was told I needed more because my teeth would continue to fall.... anyway, I highly regret ever comming accross with this product

I have used them in the past as well and they do cause some sensitivity. I believe hydrogen peroxide is what is used to remove stains in the teeth, and I don't believe that it would cause tooth decay unless the stains it is breaking up is actually covering decay that has been there for awhile. This was an explanation given to me by my dentist. Hope this helps.

Regards
