Gum separation

During dental cleaning,  the dentist hit the gum around wise tooth of my husband and it got bleeding and seperated from  tooth. It is still painful and separated. The pain wakes him up in the middle of night. 10 days has passed with no healing. Is there any treatment? Does his gum get attached to the tooth again. He is 39 non smoker.
Should he go to a general dentist or a specialist?
Any recommendation is appreciated.

I think, for your husband the symptoms for pain is due bacteria that build on and around your teeth and gums. Gum infections can be treated and cured, Depending on the severity of your infection.

Bottom line: Visit your dentist.
