Help Lump on gum, under extracted molar help!

Hey guys,
I wondering if anyone has been through a similar situation.
So I've had a bad tooth for many years now that required a root canal. I had a pretty traumatic experience at the dentist once and I avoided going at all costs. This means over the years the tooth would get infected so bad my whole face would swell and I would need antibiotics to get rid of the infection.

Anyway I got into the health industry and I realised It was a very bad idea to have an infection Like that. It started to play up and I felt a really hard lump directly underneath it. It is on the gum side closer to the cheek and is under the first layer of skin so you cannot see it only feel it. I went to the dentist and they took a basic tooth X-ray and said the tooth was dead and needed to be pulled to get rid of infection.
So I took 15 days worrh if amoxicillin and a further 5 days of kefelex to try and get rid of infection before the extraction. However the solid lump remained place.

I had the tooth extracted and they told me that the infection should clear up pretty quickly. So two weeks later the gum is healing nicely but the hard lump is still in place, they took a OPG x Ray and nothing showed up, as the dentist thought it could possibly be a Tory.

So they said if it's still not gone in 4 weeks then we will refer you to a specialist.

I'm worried that it is something serious as the x Ray does not show anything to do with bone which means it must be tissue.

The lump has not grown, it is directly under the the molar that was removed, that also had been a very. Bad tooth for many years.

Since the tooth was extracted which was four weeks ago today the gum is almost healed it was a surgical extraction.
I have been i unwell, my glands have been very high, swollen tonsils and having differculty swallowing food it feels like it's getting stuck and my ears have been aching. I went to the docs yesterday and she said no sign of infection in ears but tonsils look swollen and most likely tonilitis. I have been prescribed e-mycin.

I plan to make a another trip to dentist next week but I'm just curious to know wether leaving a dead and repeatedly infected tooth can cause hard lumps in the gum?

They have not tried to drain anything.

The lump is painless. I have pressed it with all my strength and it does not move or flatten it is completely solid but it absolutely does not show on the OPG.

I'm starting to get quite anxious about it now and would rather take action now then wait any longer

Thank you
