I have pain opening my mouth following dental filling.

Two weeks ago. Just over a week later I noticed pain opening my mouth. My whole left side, but predominantly my upper left jaw. I can't open my mouth more than about an inch and my tongue can't poke fully out at all. Together with that I have a nasty taste in my mouth. Any ideas what it could be? I had an injection top and bottom. Top one hurt quite a bit. The pain was diminished a bit this morning till I thought about trying to open my mouth a bit! Now I'm back to day one and I feel a slight numbness and swelling. Am I heading back to my dentist for a 3rd time? Do I need to see a specialist?

Your descriptions suggest disc displacement without reduction, which condition is commonly associated with wide opening of a dental procedure. Seeing a tmj or orofacial pain specialist who is experienced in manual reduction of disc displacement.
