Is it a risk when do kids dental x-ray check wear such a jacket??

My 5-year-old daughter's teeth are actually quite healthy, but today she was asked to have a dental X-ray for the first time at the dentist. The nurse then dressed her in a leaden jacket that had no collar and didn't fit well at the neck. Will the x-ray through the gaps between the neck and hit the body. How big is the risk? I looked at the images on Google, a lot of clinics have lead coats with collars but some have no collars and a lot of gaps from the neck.Is that the case in the United States?
