Paresthesia/Facial Numbness after Wisdom Teeth Removal

I had my Wisdom Teeth taken out 2 weeks ago...ever since then my right lip and chin have been completely numb...I went back to the Oral Surgeon who wants to wait a month to see what happens, I have a follow up appointment in November right before Thanksgiving.  Is there anything I can do to help?  Based on common experience, how long does nerve damage "usually" take to heal?  I feel like I am in the dark...I cannot stand it...I am getting married next year and want to be able to kiss my husband!  Also, what is the % chance that is could be permanent?

Thank you in advance for all answers, I am so scared!

It's almost 3 months now and my numbness is still about 20 percent more. I'm healing gradually but really slow. My below teeth is back to be normal again, no more Pain sensation on my gum. I still have numbness but it's almost gone now. There is a hope. The most important don't let yourself become negative because of your numbness. Your happiness is influence your healing. I will update again about my numbness if it's 100 percent gone. Cheers

not to smoke is a common sense just like if you are having a baby if you are a female.

The bottom left of my chin is numb for about 2 years now, I am still hoping it will get back to normal one day. Lesson learned - don't do any surgery to your body.

Hi all. I just had my wisdom tooth operation 3 weeks ago. Until now I still have numbness on my front gum, half lower lip and half chin. It is gradually come back to normal. But I still have partially numbness. And feels like something push my front below teeth. I don't feel pain but I'm uncomfortable with this situation. I will update my progress and hopefully there will be a significant progress and I will be normal again. I stop taking vitamin b12. Now I try to eat healthy, no alcohol, not smoking and exercise regularly.  And I take fish oil. Hopefully it will help and also trying not to be in a bad mood because somehow all the negativity influence my healing. Hopefully people here update their success to be normal again. Cheers
