Teeth gone a year ago, but there's still pain

Had 2 teeth pulled  (upper top back molars) in Nov. 2008 and not a day goes by that there isn't awareness of pain or pressure in that exact spot.  I mentioned it to the dentist several times, he just  ignores me,  doesn't believe me I guess,  but it's getting to the point that it's just driving me crazy....  Does anybody  know anything about a  problem like this and what can be done?

Thanks

If x-ray doesn't reveal pathology of edentulous area, non-odontogenous pain or paresthesia is suspected. Clinical differential diagnosis includes, but not limited to, neurovascular orofacial pain, atypical odontalgia, traumatic trigeminal neuralgia, as wellas prerigeminal neuralgia. Seeing an orofaical pain specialist is advised.

ask for an xray of the area, if he refuses, get a second opinion somewhere else.  there is always a chance that something isnt quite right, but if it looks fine on the xray, then they would just say its a phantom pain, which is not unheard of, its like the area remembering something not there.
