gum disease

I have been told that I have gum disease and have been refered by my dentist.  I also have suffered with chrones disease for the last 23years and was wondering if this could be a factor to gum disease. My teeth are in good condition and I only have 3 fillings. I am 39 years of age. Please could you advise.

Oral manifestations of Crohn's disease are granulomatous lesions. It rarely involves periodntal tissue.However, Crohn's disease may be associated with food intolerance.Please review the book titled" food allergy and intolerance" written by Brostoff and Challacombe,2nd edition, saunders

Ninety five percent of the population has some level of periodontal disease. The severity of the disease is important.If you are taking medication for the Crohns it would be necessary to see if there are side effects related to your oral health.
