permanent crown...

Hi, I had to have a root canal, & temproary crown put on after breaking a lower left bicuspid. After coming back about 3 weeks later after getting the temporary, the dentist pulled the temporary crown off, & my gums were inflamed & red. He said this was normal due to the material of the temporary & would go away once the permanent crown was replaced. He put the permanent crown on the same day he removed the temporary. I have had the permanent crown about 24 days, and my gums still look slightly red around the crown. I am also having some slight gum bleeding when flossing around the crown. Should I go back to see him soon? Or does it take a while for the gums to heal after getting a permanent crown? I was surprised the dentist put the permanent on the same day he removed the temporary, since my gums were inflamed. Thanks. I'm 31, female.

Thanks for your reply. I do plan to go back to my dentist soon, & let him take a look at the crown to make sure it's healing properly...

A dentist will usually always put the permanent crown on the same day. You can have some irritation from the temporary crown but, this has lasted over 3 weeks. You might want to get back in to see him to make sure you don't have an infection.
