oral thrush in healthy adult?

I am a 29 year old male. I have had white spots on the tip of my toungue and under my toungue that the Dentist has been able to wipe off. I have never taken anything for this even though the Dentist said to try "swizzle". I did not think this was a serious problem until I found the internet! I first noticed these spots directly under a broken tooth on the top of my toungue about 6 months ago. They stayed for a few days and left. It wasn't until two weeks ago I noticed the white under my toungue and on the tip that the dentist wiped away. There is one spot on the same side as the broken tooth and white on the underside of my toungue opposite the broken tooth. I have been under a great deal of stress for the past two and a half months and have convinved myself that I had everything from ms to lupus to colon cancer. My Dr. ran extensive blood tests including but not limited to ana, cbc, lipid panel, sed rate, I beleive cnc? and others. My Dr. todl me that the only thing wrong with my blood work was that it was absolutely normal and that most everyone has something out of whack wether they are sick or well. I had a CT scan w/o contrast b/c I am allergic to iodine and that was normal. My question is, can an otherwise healhty individual get oral thrush and why? My Dentist said that it might be oral thrush but didn't offer any clues as to why I have it. I have been married and had one sexual partner for the past 5 years and am not worried about aids but everything I find on the net says I am dying from some immuno deficency b/c I have thrush.. I am going crazy please help me!

Now that you have divulged the chewing tobacco habit, I would definitely have an oral surgeon examine you to be sure.

I don't think you're dying of some immunodeficiency disease.  The yeast that produces thrush can sometimes be present in a normal mouth without producing infection.   Sometimes it is a nutritional issue.  How is your diet?  Also, your oral hygiene habits play a role.  What is the condition of your mouth?  You mention a broken tooth.  Are there others?   With all your blood tests being normal, i wouldn't worry too much.  Have an oral surgeon examine and if necessary biopsy the lesion.  If thrush, it can be treated rather easily.

Thsi is to add to the question above. I used to chew tobbacco. I chewed approximately a can a day of copenhagen for approximately 4-5 years. I have quite chewing and haven't chewed fpr about 1 &1/2 to 2 years. Do you think this could be the start of oral cancer from chewing? the Dentist said that my gums had heeled very well and didn't see any permanent damage from the chewing. Thank you
