ok hi
well im really into piercings and tattoos. i just like it, i dont know how to explain it, but my piercings and tattoos are part of me. but i have not gone to the extreme. at first i wanted my lip pierced but then that shows more than a tongue piercing, and in the future when i get a job i dont want my piercings or tattoos to put me at a disadvantage, so i chose my tongue because it isnt obvious at all. and yes its kind of painful but its like an adrenalin rush becuase it is a quick pain but i have to say the tongue piercign was the worst becuase of all the swelling and i probably would never do it again but for just this once for me it was worth the pain becasue i like it. im sorry what ive written is all a bit confusing. but yeh its hard to explain why people do tongue piercings but for me its not to be cool its just something which is part of me.

Can I ask, why the tongue piercing? Just curious. I am 61 and cannot find how having this done is so attractive. Of course, I have pierced ears so may be that this is just a further extension of our, humans, desire to decorate our bodies. Also, is there a sizeable hole in your tongue? When I was 12, I fell while climbing out of the swimming pool, hit my chin and my front teeth went through my tongue and broke off, the teeth not the tongue. Hurt like I couldn't believe. How does one sit still while having someone else punch a hole in your tongue? These are not smart mouth questions. I really want to know what I have asked. To each his own though and good luck with your piercing and hope it isn't infected.

OOHHH you might wanna ask your dentist about that... you COULD have some kind of allergic reaction to the mouth rinse for the piercing...

I don't think your piercing has caused gingival recession.   I think you may just look at yuor mouth a little more and noticing things a little more that have been there all along.  Keeping the ring for the next two weeks won't be a bad thing, seriously dont' think it's causing the recession..not in 6 days.   I dont' think it's an emergency...

When's the last time you've visited your dentist? Had a cleaning?  Had an exam to determine gum disease?  periodontal problems?  gingivitis?   If it's been longer than a year, I'd make an appointment.  I suggest you find a GENERAL DENTIST who is well versed enough to do a COMPLETE PERIO EXAM.  If you don't have a general dentist, just check around, call and ask if he or she does complete perio exams (probing depths and all) to give a diagnosis...  You could always go to a periodontist, but they'll do the same work and charge LOTS more because it's their 'speciality'.

yeh i hope so, but i have a feeling i have gum shrinking because my teeth feel looser and my gums look like there are receeding, but the thing is im on holiday for another two weeks and i dont know if this thing is alright to keep for another two weeks to go and see a dentist or if it is an emergency to go.

quite possible it's just a generalized infection.   More than likely your mouth is 'gettign used to' a foreign object.  With that tongue ring, be sure to keep it clean, also, be careful of forming the habit of biting on it..it can damage your teeth over time.  Also be careful about placing it on your gums... it can eventually wear away your gums.  This doesnt' happen 100% of the time, but in several cases...
