OCD AND NOOTROPICS?

Hello!

I am 32 years old and have a mild case of obsessive thoughts. I study law and would like to try to improve my memory with some nootropics (like piracetam, aniracetam...)
My past 3 years was very stressed for me, so that`s why
(I think) I have still some problems with concentations and memory somethimes. I am taking Zoloft 50 mg about 2 years now becouse of deppreson.

What I need to know is can nootropics make my obsession worse?
If I try them and note that is geting worse what will happen when I stop using them - will the situation after I would stop taking nootropics stay worse than before I ever start taking them or the same?

Thank you for your anser and have a nice day!

I don't think you can cause any permanent damage by taking these nootropics.  Just monitor the effect, and stop if it doesn't work, or makes things worse.

Hay!

Yes it is true that all nootropics don`t work for everyone. I think that the point is that you find nootropic which works for you. I know people who tried a lot of nootropics before they find the right one for them. There is a lot of people who takes a lot of different nootropics in the same time.
I didn`t try yet so I can tell just what I heard.

Take care!

Nootropics don't work for everyone. In fact they don't work for a lot of people without cognitive defects. And they really don't know the safety of someone without a cognitive defect taking these drugs. I tried nootropics 4 years ago. I tried Deprenyl, piracetam, lucidril, and hydergine. I noticed no effects. So I just tried piracetam for a couple months and I tried lucidril for a month or so. I really didn't notice any difference on these. Perhaps I was sold fake pills, since I ordered them overseas. I believe now Piracetam can be sold without a prescription in the USA, so it may be more trustworthy. I wouldn't order nootropics overseas unless it comes from a good source and you are sure of the quality. Then again, I also tried my friends ritalin to see if it would help me study and I noticed no effects with that either. So now I just keep around the hydergine for emergency purposes, in case someone I know has a stroke or something.

I too have mild OCD, I'm 28. Been avoiding anxoilitics and anti-depressants. I tried the lowest dosage indicated for Piracetam for a couple of months. Only side effect noted was trouble falling asleep for the first week. Had vastly improved memory, increased speed and fluency of speech and very sensitive and clearer peripheral vision. Absolutely no problems with obsessive thoughts. Hope that helps. Would like to know your experience with nootropics if you do decide to take them.
