I have been on Paxil for 6 years and have gained 40 lbs.  I am young, healthy and very active.  I do not have a sweet tooth - I do not eat desserts, despise chocolate and anything sweet.  I never pig out on junk food.  I exercise and run and chase around my 4 young sons.  NOTHING has taken off my weight.  I have joined Weight Watchers and tried Slim Fast, and the Atkins diet.  All to no avail.  I have dropped to eating only 1300 calories a day and still the weight stays the same on the scale.  I feel like a fat blob and it's all because of Paxil.  Unfortunately, the side of effects of going off Paxil are worse than the weight gain.  I was weaned off by my psychiatrist four years ago and ended up in the hospital for a month.  I immediately went back on it.  Unfortunately for me it's a lose/lose situation.

It should start very soon as long as you watch your intake and exercise properly..won't happen by itself, need to reset the body mechanism by good health care....also, next time you need an antidepressant, try prozac,no weight gain.
