possible chemical imbalance?

friday the 9th of august i had 2 cans of bourbon, an ex friend put a 100mg capsule of tramadol into my second drink, i didnt finish the drink. it made me feel horrible. it is now friday the 16th of august, 1 week later and i am still feeling strange, not myself upstairs. i spoke to a tramadol addiction expert and they told me it could possibly of caused a chemical imbalance? is this a possibility? i have never taken tramadol before in my life, 18 years of age, small build.

Hi!
It is very unfortunate that someone drugged you like this. Tramadol has a plasma elimination half life of 6-7 hours, so all the drug will get metabolized and excreted by about 30-35 hours. However, mixed with alcohol, tramadol can cause serious side effects. Usually tramadol acts by altering the brain’s biochemical environment and similarly alcohol too alters brains biochemical environment. Together the two can cause persistence of a drunken feeling, not feeling all right, feeling sedated, inability to take decisions, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, stomach upset etc.

If you are still experiencing the symptoms after a week, please do not stay alone. Consult a doctor because at times the side effects may cause permanent damage. You may be given a drip to flush out the metabolites of both tramadol and alcohol faster. Also, alternatively the doctor may ask you to drink plenty of water.  Take a walk or exercise to increase he metabolism start this only after consulting a doctor.

I sincerely hope you will find this information useful in your journey towards better health.

Hope you get well soon! Good Luck and take care!

Without examining you, it is difficult to say what could be wrong. Since it has been a week, there is no emergency, but you need to see a doctor as soon as you can to assess the level of damage.
