Antidepressants - side effects?

I am currently taking citalopram..the doctor said there is a sexual side effect. What exactly is the side effect?

The manufacturer has by law to list all known side-effects on their product data sheets, even rare side-effects.

Remember many people get through their treatment without suffering any major side-effects and hopefully this will be the case with you.

So I would relax and forget it. If you worry about a decrease in libido, you'll definitely get a decrease in libido!

Seroternergic antidepressants (SNRIs) like citalopram, are most likely to cause decreased libodo while DNRIs (Dopamine Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors) like Wellbutrin are most likely to cause increased libido and energy levels. A combination of both might be helpful and is often used by psychiatrist in treatment resistant patients or with patients complaining of libido problems and lethargy.

Depends on the med. I've heard some increase your sex drive and others lowers it. Also depends on the person.

Sorry I don't know this drug but if you type in the name of the drug and side effects, or just the drug name, it should tell you all that, or the medhelp will bring up other member comments from the past on that drug.
