Is Sertraline safe during pregnancy and whilst breast feeding?

I'm 11weeks pregnant and have been prescribed Sertraline. Is this safe?? Read the side effects of what could happen to my newborn baby and very concerned and worrying now.

I'm 6 weeks pregnant 3rd pregnancy and my last pregnancy I was prescribed that it's the generic name for Zoloft and it is better to take wile being pregnant than prosac there is nothing to worry about when it comes to this medication my child ha no birth defect so your in the clear but if you are not certain than consult with a doctor

I take it your Dr knows you're pregnant? I'm really not sure about this med. Many of the antidepressants can effect an inborn baby. There are a couple that are safer to take during pregnancy. I'll see what I can find out for you.
Another person to ask about this would be your pharmacist.

From what i heard, taking any anti depressants while pregnant is not safe. Someone please clarify.
