Are anti-depressants worth it?

I was diagnosed with Clinical Depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder as well as Social Anxiety in September 2010, I'm now seeing a therapist who may soon refer me to a psychiatrist who will prescribe me medication. I'm currently 15 years old and I'm wondering if I should wait to be prescribed anything? My therapist told me it's up to me/my parents if I want to try it or not. Should I just continue with the therapy and try the meds or not? I still get 2-3 week episodes of depression every now and then but I can handle it better than I used to (because of therapy). I just wish the episodes would vanish.  I know the risks of medication if you're under 18 but I just wanted an outsiders opinion.

I am on anti depressives and have been on since i was 16.  I suffer from severe depression.  At first I didn't want to go on them but it was better than the depression.  It helped me and may help you.  I would still continue the theropy but the meds may also help you not be in so long.

Some medications can be very beneficial, you just have to find the right medication for you, that,s the hard part,it,s trial and error until you find the right one.If the therapy is working for you, continue with it.Distraction is a great tool for coping with depression,it takes your mind off the core issues that might be causing the depression and you focus on other things. All the best.
