Please help...

For the last 3 years I have been getting really sad.. My parents always would ague and fight but then they broke up.. When they did though, my dad almost killed my mum by strangling her which led to me having nightmares about that for months. In school I'm one of those people who only have 2 friends but likes hanging out with boys.. The problem is I have grown feeling toward one guy and I know we can't be together because he likes some other girl who likes him back.. Because of this I have become incredibly lonely and I just can't handle it.. I always feel so insecure when going out and being with people though and I am pretty sure I am developing a social anxiety disorder.. I have tried telling my mum about my depression but she takes it as a joke..  I need help.. I want to try and tell my family how I feel but they won't take me seriously.. Can someone please tell me what to do?  Also I have a very low self-esteem, my grades are getting much worse and I cut...

Then you need a counselor not at the school -- a psychologist.  It doesn't have to be someone at the school.  Keep looking for your help.

Is there a counselor at school who you can talk to who can direct you to someone who can help you talk this out?  And is there a way you can stress to your mother that you're really getting concerned about this, which is very smart of you.  You know this isn't getting you anywhere good, a lot of people don't and don't try and get help, but you want help so I think you'll get it.  You just sometimes in this world need to be persistent because people, even parents, often find this a hard thing to deal with.
