paxiled has given good advice here. I do agree that it sounds like your son needs some quality care and you may have to really work hard to find it--- I hope that you are able. This must be very VERY hard as a mother. hugs
On this forum we live all over the world. We don't know the resources available wherever you are. We don't even know which country you're in. Your profile doesn't say -- it also says you're male, and I'm assuming you're female. If you live in the US, there are more care options if you're truly poor than if you're not truly poor, at least until Obamacare is repealed. So far it still exists, so you need to check if your state has an expanded Medicaid system. You also state your husband is a veteran -- if he is, he should have access to some of the best health insurance in the country. Are you in the US? What state? Did your husband stay on his military insurance? Your son obviously needs professional help, and hospitals will keep letting him go to free beds up if he's not truly suicidal or threatening violence to others. It's very hard to get long-term hospital care if you're not wealthy, so I get that. Tell us more so someone might offer some specific help.
