Hi,
I definitely think the weather impacts on mood. I don't just mean the recognised SAD syndrome either. Like rliz I go into hibernate mode in the winter, throughout the rest of the year it is a bit hit and miss, constant rain really gets me down but then sunny days don't always lift me up. The way I look at it if you are prone to depression/lows then a miserable day is not going to help.
I'm kind of the opposite. Kile rliz I also suffer from severe refractory depression, but I find the fall and winter to be better for my condition.
This could be because I live in the deep south and the summers are ultra hot everyday and it makes me feel worn down even more with that level of heat.
The fall and winter bring a nice cool change that is much less taxing on my condition.
Now if I lived in Canada or Northern Michigan, It would probably be the fall and winter that made me worse, although I love to snow ski (when my mind is not howling) but down here there is no snow, much less a place to ski.
For $500 a week I will watch your cats. Well, depends on how many. LOL!
I think I also go into hibranation mode or at least feel less energetic in the winter. Same with the heat of summer when the humidity is jacked up.
It's interesting though for being affected by light and weather, I find night overall when I feel the most cheerful, especially if I'm outside in a warm night like last night.
My mood is totally affected by the weather! And lighting too, I love the evening time.
I find nighttime to be when I feel best. I love being in the sun, sunbathing and such, but beautiful summer days also make me feel bad. Maybe it's because I can't appreciate them when I'm down so much. Or I'm lonley. I love rainy days. Just love 'em!
But I'm dreading this winter - I hate being cold, and my apartment is esp.cold. That saps my motivation pretty badly. With energy costs expected to rise so much soon, I guess I should try working on strategy for this winter. Maybe a light box.
I find evenings are my best time also - isn't that strange!
To Lizz67 - A light box would be a good investment, I have special bulbs in my standard lamps, the daylight bulbs - I did this last year and I have to say that my mood wasn't as low as usual, it may have been the bulbs, or a combination of things.
I hate the rain. My favourite is a day where the sun isn't too bright the temperature ambient and a very gentle warm breeze - preferably in the evening :-)
It is getting to the time of year here where the sun sits lower in the sky so the intensity of light is harsher, this hurts my eyes and gives me migraine, so I permanently wear sunglasses. Today is too bright for me.
