There really is no help

I think I must be broken......Depression is common in my family history...grandmother, aunts... uncles.....not really my parents....they are just annoyed or in my mothers case...she feels helpless to help me.... I know she feels terrible....so I don't share with her...... I really have no-one anymore....  I live for my daughter...that's it.....  without her though, my life would senseless....  just a ray of sunshine over here...

That's kind of what I thought.  Have you tried therapy?  Medication can be helpful, but it can also be difficult, but it helps to first see a psychologist and let him or her help you try to change how you think about things and also can tell you if medication is necessary or not.  That should have been your first stop, not drugs, though drugs can prove necessary for many people.  It's just good to get a feel for what's going on first.

I have went to my doctor before. Anti-depression pills made me worst.....I didn't take well to them, I got Seroquel, which helps me sleep.....but now I barely sleep without them at all now,  and I wake like a zombie.

I am still struggling with the loss of my wife of many years, and old age adds to the mental struggle with I think is depression.  There is not family history of trouble, I think mine is not genetic.  I tried Trazadone prescription for a year, I think it disturbs my sleep pattern.  Just home from my primary care doctor  and he gave me a prescription for Generic Zoloft.  I will give that a try.  While my problem has different root than the original posting this thread, I offer my experience with a walk down the medication trail.  Don't like to take drugs, but if the depression is severe that may be the best path forward.  Don't know the cost, but "Generic" suggests lower cost.
