I fell 50ft.. landing on concrete. Part of my drug routine is Cymbalta 60mg., one capsule daily. My blood work and MRI's now indicate I have serious liver problems. Now my doctor is talking about taking shots for six months.
I also take a lot of Oxycontin, Oxycodone, and etc. I would recommend that if you want to try Cymbalta, just have your liver enzymes checked before dosing, after three months, then check it as you wish. The anti-depression action does take about a month to kick in, so why take a potential health hazard and wait a month to see if it helps. The commercials warn about liver problems, just listen to the them. I'm switching to another drug that works and is safer next week.

My dr tried scripting it to me for pain a few months back.  While researching it, I found a forum for people who have been on it.  They called it poison.  After reading almost the entire forum, I shredded the script.

Now, I'm sure it works for some, as a few people here have said, but I'd do your research first and make an informed decision.

I was tried on Cymbalta for treatment of severe pain and what they thought was depression, ummm hello! anyone in severe pain for years would be depressed seems a pretty normal reaction. I'd be worried if someone was giddy about it. ANNYYHOO . The Cymbalta gave me really wierd effects, jaw clenching twitchy feeling eyes rolling and crawly feeling on my skin. Dr said serotonin toxicity. Good Luck

My daughter is on her 11th day of Cymbalta, started at 30 mg forr 6 days then up to 60 mg.  She is noticing some symptoms that she didn't have before starting it, and it has seemed to help her old symptoms slightly.  We will give it another week or so to see how much it will help.  Before that 6 weeks of Celexa did nothing for her.

It works for some, not for others. I gave it a shot and it ended up not working. Others swear by its results. I would try it.

Namaste,

Cymbalta is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SSNRIs). Cymbalta works by restoring the balance of certain natural substances in the brain (serotonin and norepinephrine), which helps to improve certain mood problems.

Cymbalta is used to treat major depressive disorder and general anxiety disorder. It is also used to treat pain caused by nerve damage in people with diabetes (diabetic neuropathy).

If your provider prescribed it for you he/she must think that it will be beneficial for you and you should take it as prescribed.

Second guessing your provider, which so many people in these forums do, can be at a minimum detrimental to your overall mental health.

I have tried it all! Everybody is different. I am on 60mg of Cymbalta. I can't not take it though because it messes me up (if my insurance is messing around etc...) but if youre ready to be consistent, I'd try it.
