electric Shocks in lower xtremities

I have had on and off for about 10 years "electric" shocks in my legs from my knees to my toes. The shocks can be from every 5 seconds to 1/2 minute.  The episodes come about every half year - but now they are coming about every month.  They are very painful the first day and usually are gone by the third day. Nothing seems to help - pain medication (oxycodone or hydrocodone) or lorazepam.   Of course, when I am having the pain  the doctors in the emergency room or urgent care don't know what to do.  They send me to specialists, but then I can't get in to see them for over a month and by that time the pain is gone.  I have had tests, but nothing negative.  This is very depressing for me. The only thing I was told is that it is "muscle spasms".  Can you help?

You are on the depression site.  Clinical depression is a serious illness, not just a matter of feeling "depressed" about something.

If you feel you have depression, then you need to talk to your doctor.

I find my arthritis gives me similar pains to those you are experiencing.  Mine are worse in my upper leg.  I have them daily and have learned to live with them.  I find if I go out and walk it eases.  Muscle spasms are painful, but we just have to cope as best we can.

I have had to cope with clinical depression for 30 years and it is worse than any physical pain.
