Heres a bit of advice that you probably won't get anywhere else. Dress normal. Why do you feel the need to show the world you are "emo" or "goth". As a matter of fact dress like you care about yourself and hold your head up high, and I guarantee you will have less problems at school. Start exercising, you will feel better about yourself, and be more attractive. It will also help with depression. Stop trying to "fit in" and realize you are who you are, and don't let anyone change that. When you get older, you are going to look back on these times and laugh. Focus on your grades, they are going to determine how much scholarship money you will get for college. Most of all, enjoy the time you have while you are young. Life only gets more difficult and stressful when you get older..

God Bless,

JB

Totally agree with mammo!

I saw your note and really feel for you!  Being a teenager is probably the hardest time in anyone's life.  Kids can be so mean and petty and stupid.  Especially if you don't fit in with society's norms.

While school is a necessary evil, it's downright miserable to be stuck in with a group of people with whom you have little in common. If you have some friends you like and can trust, that is really a great thing.  Not everyone is so lucky.

I was a former "goth chic" - and still kinda am, even in my late 30s. And I wouldn't change it for anything.. Because being different also means having your own special viewpoint and understanding of the world. And it makes you way cooler than the other kids! ; )

Know that people here truly care about you and you can share your feelings here without being judged.  (Just please be careful about anyone wanting to you meet in person.   Probably goes without saying but just in case...)

Hugs and much love ---

Talk to your school counselor, they are starting to really crack down on bullying within the school systems.  Know that bullies pick on others because this makes them feel big, which means they have their own problems.  They rarely ever amount to anything and turn into adult bullys.  Hold your head high and ignore their ignorance, don't allow their actions to tear down your self esteem!  You say you have a few friends, when it comes to friends it's not about quantity but the quality of the friends you do have.  I know this is all easier said than done, but you have to rise above the bullying and you can!  If your home life is really bad then let your counselor know this as well, as they can intervene with that.  I grew up like you, feeling nobody cared and like I was invisable with a lousy home life.  You just have to keep reminding yourself that nobody else defines who and what you are. All of this will make you a stronger, smarter person one day who can rise above anything.  Find things you enjoy and get involved in them so you can meet like minded people, and make new friends.  You're never alone, we're always here for you and we care and understand.  We hear from a lot of young teens, your teen years can be tough.  But choose to lead and not follow, or fit into their "mold."  The 5 wealthiest, most successful
people in the country all have one common trait and that is....they never cared what anyone else thought.  You're stronger that you know and you will get beyond this.  I wish you all the best and big hugs to you!

All of us have experienced that at some point of our lives. Mine was in late middle school up to last year. I still feel like I don't fit in but I don't cry anymore. I get on here almost daily and have it set up so it sends me emails whenever someone here contacts me (and my cellphone let's me know when I get an email) so if you ever feel like talking, either of you too, don't hesitate.

You have come to the right place because these forums are filled with supportive and understanding people.  I know what your feeling, I know it so well and it su*cks.  I hate being home cause its hell, but I hate going to school becuase I feel like i dont fit in at all.  And its not just with school, its everywhere.  I feel like its the rest of the world functioning normally, and I'm just there watching everyone...and no one can see me or hear me and I cant fit in with any of them.  I dont know if you feel like that at all, but thats something I experience a lot with depression.  You arent alone...I know it feels like you are, and Im just some girl on the internet but I do care, and you can talk to me anytime.  Im glad you've joined this site because it is really helpful. There are soo many awesome, friendly people who can be really comforting.
