Just want to reach out and let everyone know there is help and to stop keeping your illnesses built up inside and talk about it.

This might be some information that is scary to read, but it's the truth i want people as we all do on med help to reach out as much as you can to other people and talk about getting help with any mental illness. It is nothing to be ashamed of. It is something we all know is a very scary situation but in helping each other we can help the world. I would like everyone to read this.

Compared Mental ILLNESSES OTHER HEALTH ISSUES
THEY SAY MENTAL ILLNESS IS A WEAKNESS? SO NOT TRUE!
IT IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST DISEASES OUT THERE!
NOT SOMETHING TO MESS AROUND WITH "30,000 SUICIDES" EACH YEAR WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU? THAT'S WHY I REACHED OUT. IT IS A HUGE DEAL . NO ONE WANTS TO BE MENTALLY ILL.

Facts:
30,000 Americans die by suicide each year; an additional 500,000 Americans attempt suicide annually.

Nearly 3/4 of borderlines attempt suicide or display self-mutilating behaviors like cutting themselves with razors or burning themselves. Only about 10% of suicide attempts are successful. Symptoms of borderline personality disorder and risks of suicide are greatest during young adulthood .

Among adolescents, suicide ranks as the third leading cause of death, behind unintentional injury and homicide.

Despite declines among all age groups nationwide, for adolescents between the ages of 15 and19 the suicide rate has increased by 6 percent, and among children between the ages of 10 and 14, the rate has increased by more than 100 percent.

Oh it is a VERY sad situation, i will read sometimes on medhelp these teenage girls and sometimes older women or men get turned down for help because they didnt "cut themselves enough" or go to a big enough extreme. I mean seriously? Whats the next extreme death? I've heard that some therapists and drs have actually turned patients away because they don't want to deal with suicidal people. What is up with that? It breaks my heart that all these people are suffering so bad that this is the only way they can reach out. I just can't hear another suicide story on the news. And on the new laws i'm not sure but i'll try to find something and get back to you. And i agree with you getitright77 it's crazy .

I know we want something done about the amount of suicides but realistically, what can the government do. They fund research and give grants to crisis/suicide call lines. They advocate that general doctors give depression surveys. People with mental illness have to reach out for help when suicidal. Due to government regulations, ERs can't turn people away, including those who are suicidal. What new laws would help? Any ideas?

I agree with you, these a human lives that we are talking about and the numbers are just to high.Which ever way you look at it some thing has to be done about because its not exceptable and not right. The government needs to stand up and take action and not wash their hands of these extremely high figures. It,s a very sad situation

See i read this and thought the same exact thing. Nothing is happening that's kind of what my point was, all these people are just sitting around , while we all suffer , it's almost like what do we all have to do in order for people to think of people with "mental illnesses" , there's so many suicides, and nothing is being done to help? They just keep letting it happen. No one stands up and says THIS IS ENOUGH.  And with your other question i have no idea but i wish i knew. I wish the world were different.
