There are many symptoms of depression, always different with each person and varying in severity.

You are correct. "Clinical depression" is not a type of depression or an indication of its severity per se. The "official" label is Major Depressive Disorder - which can range from mild to moderate to severe. "Clinical depression" is used (by the public and in the mental health field) as an "also known as" to distinguish depressed mood from major depression - which should be treated by a doctor - not simply that it is being treated by a doctor.

Google the term and read the many different summaries. Very similar usually but there are more symptoms than you can count. Listed are only the commonly recognised ones.

The degree of feeling certainly indicates the degree of depression.

I would like to point out again to people that the term "clinical depression" is not a type of depression.

To quote from wordnet.princeton.edu :

"depressive disorder: a state of depression and anhedonia so severe as to require clinical intervention".

Clinical simply means treatment from a clinician, a doctor. Yes, I know many sites misquote this, including Wikipedia but they are wrong. It is not a type of depression. It just means being treated by a doc which implies a recognised case rather than self diagnosed. Somple really but so sonfusing for so many. I could say I have depresion but unless it's treated by a doc it isn't clinical. Follow? Many seem to think it indicates deep depression. It doesn't.

You will know if you feel like your living in a hell itself.
If your really suffering a serious major depression then it pretty much feels like death only worse.

You can't think, can't eat, you will tremble, your head will feel like a mad swurling Tempest, you will be exhausted yet not be able to sleep. In short it honestly feels like your going insane.

If it gets bad enough then you start to feel dis-attached from the world around you. This is the point when I became suicidal.

Major depression feels like the death of your soul. It goes far beyond just simple sadness.

Depression can take many forms. However, the common symptoms include: feeling sad, crying spells, change in eating habits, insomnia or early waking, sleeping "too much," lack of energy / motivation, thoughts of death, feeling suicidal, loss of interest in life / things that were once pleasurable, feelings of guilt / shame / worthlessness, feelings of "unreality," irritability, physical complaints (lightheadedness, headache, muscle aches, digestive problems, etc), and the list goes on and on. To be labeled major / clinical depression, these symptoms have to exist for at least two weeks and occur more often than not (meaning you have more bad days than good). They also cannot be related to a major life stressor (like a recent death in the family... which would be "normal" grief - not clinical depression).

The majority of people who suffer from depression also suffer from some form of anxiety disorder. Feeling like you are going to explode may be a part of the depression or a symptom of concurrent anxiety.

Depression and anxiety are both highly treatable. Have you spoken to anybody about how you are feeling? It is always best to be evaluated by a medical doctor to rule out any physiological causes of these symptoms (such as low blood sugar, hormone imbalances, vitamin deficiencies, thyroid issues, etc). Once these are ruled out, you can begin a treatment plan consisting of therapy, exercise, and medication if needed.

Hope this helps.

Fatigue, anxiety, moodiness, anger, not interested in anything, not wanting to do the things you used to, feeling like life isn't worth living, feeling lost, alone.  The degrees of these symptoms vary from person to person, from mild to severe.  When you feel like you are just going to explode, may just be an anger issue.  You should see a psychiatrist for evaluation, therapy, and maybe any medication he would feel is necessary.  But do seek help for yourself.
