5 yrs girl has swollen foot

tpa

Hello,

My 5 yrs old daughter felt itchy on her right foot about 5 days ago.  We see red nad hard spot on the foot.  She scratched it a few times, but no pain.  Then, 2 days later, the foot started swelling fast.  Within 24 hrs, ankle also swollen.  But still, she feels no pain, just some scratching, but since the foot become bigger, she feels too discomfort to walk.  Any body has any idea ?  Bacteria infection ?  Diabetes ? Kidney ? Or any other can cause it.  She just got immunization (DTaP, Hep A and Chicken pox) 10 days ago.  She also has taken Glycolax (laxative) last 10 days.  Any of these cause the foot swelling ?

Please advice.

Thanks

A bite of an insect and consequent allergy is most likely.

Hi!  I don't know if you still check this site but I wanted to say that my 5 yr old daughter is having the same thing happen but no swelling yet.  She is also taking glycolax and 10 days ago had her immunizations which included Dtap and hep A, no chicken pox vaccine though.  Please let me know what happened with your daughter and if you found a cause for the foot problem.
