Annoying dry patch on my upper lip

I began using a night lip mask for about three days until i noticed a tiny cluster of bumps forming on the upper left side of my lip. The tiny bumps were located on my lip (not the border) and were skin colored. I discontinued use of the mask as soon as I saw the bumps form.
They felt sandpapery, however after a few weeks they went away. now I have this patch of slightly darker skin on my lip that is incredibly scaly and annoying, so I'm wondering when it will disappear? It doesn't hurt, sting, or burn; it simply feels like a patch of rough, dry, skin. Are there any solutions to get rid of it? Is this an allergy?  I've never had this happen to my lip before and I only began seeing these bumps after using the lip mask.
