Atypical looking mole -- should we get it checked out?

My partner has a mole on his back. It is about 5 mm and mostly brown throughout. It is oval shaped. He has had it for several years and it has not changed. We are in between insurance companies and cannot see a dermatologist for several months. Do you think it is a cause for concern if it has not changed size, shape or color over several years?

I'm not a doctor, but a mole that does not change in size or color is generally regarded as no cause for concern.  Also, most moles that are cause for concern are irregularly shaped.  Hopefully, this article will put your mind at ease: https://www.cancer.org/cancer/melanoma-skin-cancer/detection-diagnosis-staging/signs-and-symptoms.html
