Bumps on my arms

I have these bumps on my arms, particularly on my upper arms, I think they are ingrown hairs.  I understand how ingrown hairs can occur when the hairs are shaved to below the level of the skin, but I don't shave my triceps.  Any idea what causes them and what I can do to prevent them?

Hi,

Are both arms involved? Any redness?

Is the rash associated with exposure to heat or cold?

Any itchiness or scaling, crusting, weeping in the area?

What surrounds its onset? Does it occur at a partiular time of the day or specific time of the year?

Do you have a history of allergies?

Keep us posted with your answers.

I have the same bumps on my triceps. I also have them on quadriceps. The derm told me they are hereditary. My grandmother and cousin also get them. The Derm also said  there really isn't anything you can do but try exfoliating the area. It helps. I use a rough washcloth or St. Ives apricot scub. It will makes the bumps smoother and help release what is trapped inside.

Ingrown hairs can also be from clogged pores, I have them on my arms and it gets  worse in the summer, my derm dr told me just to  wash the sweat and dirt away frequently and that is pretty much all you can do,
