What would cause my hair to suddenly smell very sweet?

For the past few days, my hair has had an incredibly weird sweet smell. I’ve done a lot of research about smells when it comes to hair but it doesn’t smell “cheesy” or like “wet dog” or any of those things. It just smells REALLY sweet, especially when wet. What could be causing this sudden change?

Have you changed any products you have been using on your body?  How about your diet?

I used a decently sweet smelling conditioner but I have used that many times before and never had this issue. I have since stopped using it altogether and I have been using neutrogena t-sal without any change in smell.
I have not changed my diet at all.
There could be a medical condition that causes the sweet smell, for example, sometimes if you have diabetes your sweat can have a sweet smell to it- I know you mentioned this is coming from your hair, but I would head to the doctor to have a check up just in case this is something being caused by another medical condition- especially since you really haven't changed anything.
Yeah I’ve thought about diabetes after reading about the sweet-smelling sweat but I’m just perplexed because it truly seems to only come from my hair and nowwhere else on my body, not even on the sweatier parts.
I'd get it checked out for sure- it may not even be diabetes, but that's just an example of a medical condition that our body fragrance can give us a warning about.  Make an appointment with the doctor and let us know how you are doing!
