Can't smile after upper lip stitches

I split my upper lip and need 6 stitches about 2 and a half weeks ago and I got these stitches removed a week and a half ago. My upper lip feels stiff and I am finding it hard to smile as my upper lip isn't curving up. I am wondering is there anything I can do to make the lip less tight?

It may take some time for the skin to relax, but definitely follow up with your doctor on this. There may be something they can give you to use on it, or they'll want to check for nerve damage.

Don't freak out though - it's still a really new injury, and you may just need time to heal. Let us know what your doctor says.

Really appreciate the reply, I still have feeling in the part of the lip which feels stiff. I heard that massaging the stitched area could help loosen the fibres or something along those lines, do you think it would he helpful?
