Child with Atypical Mole op Penis

Could someone explain this in plain english - thanks!

Diagnosis came back as Compound Nevis with moderate junctional atypia, lesion extends to the peripheral margin. Note due to the increased density of single melanocytes and the presence of some of these atypical melanocytes avoe the dermal-epidermal junction, the doctor considers the lesion  a peculiar nevis and recommend conservative re-excision.

Thank you - we are having the surrounding skin excised shortly - with his history of leukemia and bone marrow transplant it is not worth the risk of waiting to see what occurs, unlike with other patients.

Thank you for providing an English version of Doctor-speak :)

Hello,
Definitely this is the report of a atypical mole. These moles are larger than common moles, with borders that are irregular and poorly defined and color ranges from tan brown to black. In simple language it has features that are in-between a normal mole and a melanoma. So it is better to keep an eye on this mole and if there is any change in the mole's/mark’s color, height, size or shape, you should have a dermatologist evaluate it. You also should have it checked if it bleeds, oozes, itches, appear scaly, or become tender or painful.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
