Concerned with nodules growing on chest

I’ve had these nodules on my chest for at least 10-15 years. The bigger one has been there the longest but the smaller ones developed over time, I can’t be sure as to how long they’ve been there but it’s taken several years for them to come in even though they are small. The bigger one hasn’t grown in a very long time, it grew to about the size of a pea and stopped. They don’t hurt or itch but they concern my because they don’t look like a mole or anything I’ve seen online.

I’ve seen my doctor about it about 2 years ago and he wasn’t concerned with them being anything dangerous, he did say that if they change to come back. I’d like to get some opinions on what possibly they could be. Obviously cancer is a concern but it’s taken 10-15 years for them to get to this small size and they don’t really appear to be growing although it seems like a couple more have started forming.

I thought maybe they could be chest hair follicles since I have shaved my chest in the past but the bigger one is firm.  I’d appreciate any insight anyone can give.

Hello and welcome to the forum.  Thanks for the question.  This has been going on a very long time.  Indeed, you should check in with your doctor if there have been any changes and in general, an annual physical is a great thing to have.  Then you are guided about this and all other health matters annually.  

From your description, they are lumps under the skin and painless?  Lipomas are a clump of fatty tissue. There can be different benign things this could be.  You could have trapped keratin cells.  Cysts are another possibility.  

I'd get it looked at by a doctor again and preferably a dermatologist.  Let us know what they say.
