I've had severe atopic dermatitis on my foot similar to what you describe. I would keep applying the cortisone cream (make sure it's the full 1%) and to make the weekend bearable, pick up a tube of lanacane at the drug store. Apply the lanacane about 15 minutes before you apply the cortisone cream. For the first minute or so it will burn, but grit your teeth and bear it. Put a clean pair of socks on and enjoy 6 hours of itch free living! Make sure to apply it before you go to bed, so you don't feel the need to scratch away while you sleep. You could also take 50mg of Benadryl each night to relieve the itching. Happy thoughts!
