Fungus on scrotum?

I have what I believe is a fungus infection on my scrotum. It started like a round spot with discoloration and it was itchy. I went to get checked out for STD's and was told it was a fungus and to use Lotrimin Ultra. I used and the itching seemed to go away but the spot never really disappeared. Now it seems to have grown bigger. It's itchy. I applied apple vinegar and that area turns white. I have had this off and on for about a year. I have not gone to a dermatologist because I a few years ago I had yeast infection on my glans, was given prescribed medication and it did not work. I got that yeast cleared with cinnamon bark oil. Is yeast infection the same as a fungus? Is there any oral medication I can purchase and try? Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you.

OK, this is a long read, but it does a good job of outlining the different types of fungal infections, and how to treat them: https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/guide/fungal-infections-skin#

There are loads of over-the-counter products designed to treat these infections mostly topical creams or sprays.  Unfortunately, sometimes you just have to go with trial and error.  I had a skin fungus that didn't respond well to Lotrimin, but tried a product with a different active ingredient (Tinactin, I believe) and that worked.

Make sure to keep the area cool, and most of all, DRY.  Don't rub it dry, but use an absorbent cloth to pat it dry several times a day, and of course dry thoroughly after a shower and before applying the cream (or spray).
