Also i do want to mention, the area below my lips above my chin gets super dry, i have to put moisturizer in the mornings before work. the side that gets really dry is the same side that my lip gets flaky and looks black. That i have never looked into it since I've had since I started working for a clinic three years ago.
its still considered a cold sore even though it never looked like a sore? it was just a flaky patch on my lip? I know I really need to see a doctor about this. Its been a little more than two weeks now and once it a while when my lips are really chapped and i've forgotten my chap stick it gets super dry and flaky just that one side of my lip.
Hello!
From the description given by you the commonest possible causes are herpes/cold sores, or very rarely canker sores. Though herpes is commonly transmitted through direct skin-to-skin contact with an infected individual, touching items infected with herpes virus like razors, towels, dishes and other items can also lead to transmission of herpes. Canker sores usually occur on the inside of the mouth while herpes occurs on the outer lips.Heredity, stress, climate changes, hormonal changes ,food allergies, nutritional deficiencies of folic acid and vitamin b12 are known to precipitate attacks of canker sores. Since you are not sure about the diagnosis you need to see a doctor to confirm the diagnosis. An external examination is very important. Do write to us again with more details.
Take care and good luck!
