I removed an ingrown hair in pubic region but bump remains

I had a bump show up yesterday in my pubic region. It was at a head and you could see the hair underneath. I drained it and removed two hairs out of the pore. I put triamcinolone on it over night and swelling went down. Throughout the day however the bump became more apparent and red in color. There is no head to it just a pea sized bright red lump. Not sure if this is just irritation from the removal or if it could be infected. More than willing to go to the doctor but if this is normal healing process don't want to schedule an appointment and have them tell me it will just take time to heal.
