I have a problem with spots appearing on my legs.

I have spots appearing on the back of my upper legs and buttocks. They are red with tiny white centres. Raised bumps that look like large-ish pimples. They are not itchy but painful to touch. When the go they leave scars on my skin. The same thing happened last summer and I’m wondering if it’s some kind of allergy. Last year I went to see my doctor and she prescribed Timodine Cream, but I’d like to know why I’m getting this and what caused it, rather than just accepting it and treating the symptom. Does anyone have an idea what it might be?
