Hi,
I have seen a pink blemish (it is flat, not a spot or does not bleed) on my scalp. It is around 1cm in diameter. It only becomes visible to myself when I style my hair into a quiff or when I cut my hair quite short. I am not entirely sure but I believe I first saw this blemish about 6-12 months ago.
It wasn’t until today when someone saw this for the first time and thought it was a beauty mark. I am or Middle Eastern descent with dark hair so beauty marks and moles are quite uncommon. At this point I searched for treatments for “pink/brown” blemishes on scalps and melanoma, alongside other types of skin cancer such as SCC and BCC came up as the predominant issues.
The blemish does not hurt or bleed. It feels perfectly normal when I touch it and it sometimes feels as if it is not there when I brush my hair.
Many attribute such skin cancer and skin abnormalities to exposure to sun. I spent last summer travelling to warmer climates - particularly to Portugal where there was a heatwave and temperatures reached 45 degrees Celsius, and my head was not covered most of the time.
However, such types of skin cancer are diagnosed for older people. I am a 22 year old male (turning 23 tomorrow), with no history of such skin abnormalities before.
I want to hear whether anyone has experienced anything like this before or whether you recommend my visiting my GP and see whether I should be referred to a dermatologist?
Many thanks
